The Nativity

I just purchased 3 more paintings from LDS Paint by Numbers. They came fast. The other temple pictures I purchased and painted had good detail and they are fun to paint. The result was awesome.

This is one of the easier PBN projects I've done. While the design is beautiful, most of the paints were thin and did not apply evenly. Every color required two full coats and some required three. Fortunately, there was enough paint per pot. One of the paints was nearly dried out, but I was able to reconstitute it. Paint pot 7 (one of the lighter colors) is completely dried out, so I have been unable to finish the project. (FWIW, I started this project within a week or two of receiving it.)

The kit did not come with a paper printout, but I took close-up pictures of each quadrant before I started, which was very helpful when determining colors for the second coat. The colors in the pots dry to a slightly different color once applied to the canvas.

I ordered this paint by number to do during General Conference. It turned out beautifully and I feel very artistic. Can’t wait to try another!

Love love love the piece! My only suggestion would be a paper map with the canvas. Once you paint over the number it’s hard to match the color if touch up is needed. This is the first time I have received a project without a paper print of the project. I have done many many paint by number from various companies. A paper copy would be a huge improvement.

I gave them to my girls so we’ll see how they do!
